Sound

Every sound source (your mic, desktop sound, a game, an app, a media file) has a round knob. The ring shows the volume and the middle glows with the live level.

Do this To
Drag up or down, or scroll Change the volume (the dB value shows while you drag)
Double-click Mute or unmute (a muted knob is dimmed, with a crossed-out speaker)
Ctrl+click Put the volume back to 0 dB
Click the name under it Open its sound settings

A single click does nothing, so grabbing a knob never mutes it by accident. A dot on a knob means something needs attention, for example a device that’s unplugged or a sound that would be heard twice. Hover it to see why.

Click a knob’s name to open its settings (close with × or Esc):

  • Volume and mute.
  • Hear on my speakers: play this sound through your speakers or headphones too. Media and browser sources start with this on.
  • Balance, sync offset (to line sound up with a delayed camera) and tracks (which of the six recording tracks it goes to).
  • Voice presets and filters (below).

Pick a Voice preset: Deeper, Higher, Robot, Radio, Cave or Echo. Turn on Hear on my speakers (with headphones) to try them before you go live. Each preset adds filters you can fine-tune.

Add filters to any sound with + Add filter…: Noise suppression, Noise gate, Compressor, Limiter, Gain, Pitch shift, Robot voice, Radio voice, Echo and Reverb. Reorder or remove them in the list. Your microphone gets noise suppression from the start.

  • When a game or window capture has Capture audio on, Desktop audio leaves that game out, so the game is heard once, on its own knob. Discord, music and alerts stay on Desktop audio.
  • Clutch’s own playback (media you hear on your speakers) is left out of Desktop audio, so it isn’t captured twice.
